This is the 2nd room of Mrs. Demeters house. Note the bed with the thick "duna" on the left. Our arrival was unexpected, but Mrs Demeter was very gracious. We were served delicious concord-type grapes and a strong , clear "Palinka" which had been produced in Faj. Pictured with Mrs. Demeter is the photographer R. and her cousin L. We believe that Mrs. Demeter's house is typical of residences in Faj, both exterior and interior. Courtesy D. Gonthier, taken 1989

Mrs Demeters home and yard were typical of others in Faj. In addition to the 2-room house the property included a storage shed, a pig pen, and an outhouse. The car pictured in the photo was our rental. The only other car we encountered in the village was that of a constable who stopped us, and then escorted us to Mrs Demeters home. Courtesy D.
